Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about text statistics
Reading time is based on an average reading speed of 200 words per minute. This corresponds to a moderate reading pace for non-technical texts. For highly specialized or complex texts, the actual reading time may be higher.
A sentence is recognized by punctuation marks such as a period (.), exclamation mark (!) or question mark (?). The tool counts the number of these sentence-ending markers in the text. Consecutive punctuation marks (e.g. "...") count as one sentence.
A paragraph is a block of text separated by at least one blank line. The tool identifies paragraphs by double line breaks. Single line breaks without a blank line are counted as new lines but not as new paragraphs.
Byte size is determined using the TextEncoder API and reflects the UTF-8 encoding of the text. For purely Latin characters, one character equals one byte. Special characters, umlauts or emojis require multiple bytes.
No. Your text is processed exclusively in your browser's memory and is never stored or transmitted. When you leave the page or close the browser, the text is irreversibly deleted.
